Ahead of Student Leasing Season for the Upcoming School Year, Here are 5 Important Things to Remember
The Road Home Starts Here at Young America, and as we gear up for student leasing season to begin at the start of September (renewals first!) we want to ensure you’re ready.
Keep these five essentials in mind:
- Check Key Dates - Renewals and priority group leasing kick off at the beginning of September, followed immediately by open leasing.

Know Your Budget and Administrative Costs - In addition to rent, plan for one-time admin fee as well as a utility tracking fee. You should also be aware of monthly utilities and and other optional amenities available to you at an additional cost. These may be charged to your account at lease signing or at move-in. Also, when it comes to making your rent payments - know your options! Avoid processing fees charged by credit and debit card companies by setting up ACH payments through your bank account.

Gather Your Documents and Roommates - Bring a valid drivers license or government-issued ID, your admin-fee payment, and at least half of your roommates when you sign. Having everyone present avoids delays in the leasing process.

Scheduling a Tour - Tours run Monday–Friday, 10 AM–4:30 PM, and Saturday, 11 AM–2:30 PM and must be scheduled at least 1 day prior.

Understand Policies and Options

Keys and Access: Residents will receive either a unique key or access code for their apartment (plus mailbox and any security/elevator keys) on move-in day. Key replacements and after-hours lockouts incur a fee.

Joint Responsibility: All roommates are equally liable for all rent and fees incurred unless a parent guarantor (co-signor) is on file for each resident.

Subleasing & WE-FIND: Need to exit early or fill a roommate spot? Our sublease process and WE-FIND agreement can help.

Credit Building: starting with the 2026-27 leasing year, residents will be enrolled in a credit building service, in which monthly on-time payments are reported to the 3 major credit bureaus. This amenity will be added to your accounts for $8/month and you may opt out at any time.

Early Move In key pickup begins today at the Bone Student Center!
Keys will be available to pick up from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM!
For Current YA Residents, keys can be picked up starting at 8:30 AM. For NEW YA Residents, keys can be picked up starting at 10:30 AM.
If you took an Early Move In, please be sure that you have submitted your Move In Inspection.
To submit your move in inspection, please click the button below!
June Move-In will occur on Tuesday, June 4th at our student office located at 311 S. Main Street, Normal, IL.
Please refer to your 24-25 lease to verfiy your move in date.
